In Portneuf, we are dynamic, creative and forward-looking, and we love showing what we’re made of. Our region is proud and our craftspeople, artists, entrepreneurs and businesses work synergistically to develop an unrivalled array of cultural activities. This summer, a host of festivals, symposia, events and themed days will dazzle your eyes and ears with music, comedy, visual arts and much more. Here’s a taste of what’s in store this summer.

La Commission B - June 14 to 16
This year’s La Commission B, a musical and foodie gathering in the heart of Saint-Casimir, presents local and international artists on its four stages. What to expect: 3 days of festivities with an exciting and eclectic line-up including Grimskunk, Karkwa, Marjo, Perséide and many more. On June 15, the Saturday of the event, 16 breweries, cideries, wineries and distilleries from Quebec and Ontario will be on site to tantalize the most discerning palates and delight those passionate about discovering new culinary and brewing creations.

Jacques-Cartier fishway interpretation site – From June 21
Situated at the mouth of the Jacques-Cartier River in Cap-Santé, the salmon fishway allows Atlantic salmon to pass through a dam built at the beginning of the 20th century. Admire large salmon as they migrate upstream through a glassed-in observatory. An on-site guide will be delighted to answer any of your questions. The site also offers breathtaking views of the river as well as a picnic area.

Symposium Cap-Santé riche en couleurs – June 29 and 30
After more than 20 years, the symposium’s mission remains unchanged: to promote the visual arts and put Cap-Santé on the map. With its friendly atmosphere, the site’s exceptional heritage and an impressive roster of some sixty exhibiting artists, this symposium has carved out a place for itself as one of Quebec’s leading artistic events.

Secousses Festival - July 18 to 20
For lovers of great beer, food, music and comedy, Donnacona will be abuzz with its second edition of the Secousses Festival! No fewer than 15 microbreweries will be on hand to share their passion for beer and offer you a taste of their creations. Jérôme 50, Carotté, Blesse and Miro Chino will be part of the musical line-up, while Richardson Zéphir, Magali Saint-Vincent and Jean-Philippe Guay will have you in fits of laughter.

Festival international de Blues de Donnacona - July 31 to August 4
Under its colossal tent, the Donnacona blues festival brings you local, North American and international artists. Come and treat yourself to the biggest all-blues festival in Quebec east of Montreal! This year’s headliners include Breen Leboeuf & the Night Bluemers, Sue Foley, Matt Schofield, The Boneshakers and Big Dez.

Les Fêtes gourmandes de Neuville – August 22 to 25
In addition to showcasing Neuville’s sweet corn and the various local and regional producers of local produce, the Fêtes gourmandes feature musical performances in the evening. All the finest ingredients are here for an event packed with flavour and fun!

Raid Bras du Nord – August 23 to 25
Raid Bras du Nord is by far the largest mountain bike event in Quebec. For its 20th edition, all 5 races will take place on brand-new circuits, which still offer a challenge to cyclists of all levels. In addition to the races, there will be demos, entertainment and free shows for all the family.

Religious Heritage Days – September 6 to 8
Religious Heritage Days is an event designed to promote the heritage that provides information about the knowledge, actions, rituals and ideas that inspired our predecessors throughout Quebec—buildings from different eras and construction techniques, organs, works of art, archives, monuments, cemeteries, etc.

Route des arts et saveurs de Portneuf – September 21 and 22
For one weekend, artists’ studios and farms in Portneuf are opening their doors to the public. Meet the food producers, processors, artists and craftspeople along an itinerary that’ll take you by the St. Lawrence and the rivers dotting our magnificent landscapes.

Symposium Eaux en couleurs - in September (date to be soon confirmed)
Now in its 19th year, the Rivière-à-Pierre Eaux en couleurs symposium is a unique painting event in a forest setting, with painters from all over Quebec. For two days, visitors can admire the artists at work directly on the site of the emblematic Chutes de la Marmite while marvelling at the stunning colours of the autumn landscape.
