By David C, March 1 2026
In Portneuf, every season gives the perfect chance to make the most of our great outdoors. When summer comes, we not only get to wear our short sleeves, but we can finally pull out our tents and camping gear and sleep under the stars. Whether you’re into rustic forest camping, traditional camping, glamping or cycle camping, you’ll find the perfect option for spending quality time in the great outdoors.
Camping in the great outdoors
There’s nothing more peaceful than pitching your tent in the heart of the wilderness. Many sites in Portneuf offer a wide range of activities to keep you active during your stay: hiking, water sports, mountain biking, via ferrata, swimming, or simply a day of pure relaxation.

In Vallée Bras-du-Nord, three campsites allow you to choose how you want to spend your stay in the wild. Shannahan campsite, a secluded spot at the foot of the Falaises Mountain, is the perfect base from which to enjoy all the activities the valley has to offer. The Vallée campsite, accessible only by river, offers a rustic and solitary camping experience. Finally, the Etsanha campsite (partner accommodation) offers a magnificent site for tents and caravans right by the river.
Parc naturel régional de Portneuf offers several rustic campsites scattered across its vast territory, suitable for both tents and recreational vehicles. Depending on the area you choose, you can enjoy lakes, hiking trails and beaches.
With over 350 lakes and its splendid mountains, you’ll be immersed in nature in Zec Batiscan-Neilson. You can book short stays and rent one of the ready-to-camp sites.
In Réserve faunique de Portneuf, the Lac Bellevue campsite, situated on the edge of a magnificent sandy shore, is the perfect place for campers to experience nature at their own pace, with 45 sites available.

Lastly, Centre vacances Lac Simon offers camping sites both with and without services, spread across eight sectors to ensure there’s something for everyone. Campers can enjoy a wide range of activities, including boat rentals, hiking, volleyball, archery and much more.
Traditional camping
Like little villages of camping caravans, tents or cabins, traditional campsites have the advantage of being buzzing with activities for the whole family.

At the Un air d’été, you can park your RV for a day or for the whole season. In addition to its swimming pool, swimming lake and sports fields, the site features a remote-controlled car track, a dek hockey rink and a BMX track.

At the Panoramique RV and cabins park in Portneuf, you can enjoy the swimming pool, work up a sweat on the sports fields, go on an ATV adventure or take a swing on a nine-hole golf course.
Bike camping
Cycle tourists are in for a treat in Portneuf. Combining cycling with camping allows you to explore the region at your own pace while enjoying its outdoor activities, tourist attractions and incredible local produce.
Vélopiste Jacques-Cartier/Portneuf, built on a former railway line, stretches 68 km between Saint-Gabriel-de-Valcartier and Rivière-à-Pierre. In the northern section, there are seven rustic campsites, accessible only by bike. Peace and quiet guaranteed! Why not take the opportunity to visit the Centre d’interprétation du granite and go for a short hike to Chute à l’ours?
From the river to the mountains, passing through back roads, Véloroute portneuvoise offers breathtaking views of the stunning scenery. Along the way, you can set up your tent at Camping du Lac Blanc in Saint-Ubalde or in Parc naturel régional de Portneuf.
In Saint-Raymond, take the trails that run alongside the Sainte-Anne and Bras-du-Nord rivers, which offer breathtaking views of the mountains. Looking for a place to spend the night? Head to the Etsanha campsite or the campgrounds in Vallée Bras-du-Nord.

If it’s the river that piques your interest, take Route Verte 5 along Chemin du Roy. Panoramique campsite is the perfect place to stop for a well-deserved break. Near Pont-Rouge, the Un air d’été campsite is the ideal spot to stay at if you have your eye on the Dansereau La Liseuse trail.
Great news: most campsites in the region are certified “Bienvenue cyclistes,” which makes planning your stay much easier. Should you run into any problems, tire-inflation and repair stations are available throughout the area. Find them here on this map.
Glamping
If you’re not keen on camping in a tent or would like to enjoy the great outdoors without having to carry all your gear, there are several options available to you. Parc naturel régional de Portneuf, Zec de la Rivière-Blanche and Réserve faunique de Portneuf are all home to comfortable ready-to-camp facilities awaiting your arrival.

For a different experience, you can also spend the night in a yurt or dome. The yurts at Camp Portneuf and Vallée Bras-du-Nord, as well as the domes at Centre vacances Lac Simon, provide the perfect blend of nature and comfort. With a roof, beds and kitchen essentials, you can enjoy the best of rustic camping. . . with a dash of extra comfort. Some sites also provide a barbecue, a picnic table and firewood for the campfire.
So, all that’s left is for you to come and make the most of your stay in the great outdoors. . . and on two wheels! Feel free to share your best camping photos on Instagram and Facebook using the #PortneufInegalable tag.
